Czech Republic (Czech Republic) is a landlocked country with a mild and transitional climate located in Central Europe. Its neighbors are Germany in the west, Poland in the north, Slovakia in the south-east and Austria in the south. The state is made up of Bohemia, Moravia and Czech Silesia. Its surface is formed by hills and several mountains (Krkonoše and Biele Karpaty). The highest mountain is Sněžka. Prague is the capital and the largest city, while other cities are Brno, Ostrava, Plzeň and Liberec. In 1999, the Czech Republic became a member of NATO and became a member of the European Union on 1 May 2004.
