Ján Rajtek (* 1955) comes from Kysucké Lieskovec. His work is truly varied. He is the author of dozens of works - such as the wooden sculpture of the Virgin Mary in Vychylovka and in Kysucky Lieskovec and sculptures of the Fatima Virgin Mary located in Trenčín. Many of his works have been awarded in competitions and at various exhibitions. After his studies at the Secondary School of Applied Arts in Bratislava, Ján Rajtek attended the Pedagogical Faculty of Charles University in Banská Bystrica. He started working as a restorer of cultural monuments (such as the Gothic altar in Banská Bystrica), but he also left a trace of mature artistic manuscript in Banská Štiavnica, Levoča, Javorina, Radoli and other places. He devoted a lot of time to independent painting. In addition to works on secular themes, he painted the altarpiece of Our Lady of Sorrows (the Danube River), as well as paintings of the Resurrection and the Resurrection, which he successfully presented at the exhibition in Humenné. He is currently engaged in woodcarving. Some well-known artists appreciate Rkatek's creativity, claiming that several of his works outnumber their originality and perfection. In the Jubilee Year 2000 Cardinal Ján Chryzostom Korec sanctified the Church of Sts. Peter and St. Pavla - one of many new churches built in Kysuce. In its inner space, statues of church patrons are placed in the side niches. The walls are lined with crosses of cross. Reliefs of Saints and the Stations of the Cross are masterpieces of John Rajek. The creator of the project said: "I was given the opportunity to create this work because, unlike other people, I designed wood as a living, natural material." It wasn't, of course, a problem, but it helped him - how it happens in life - coincidence: “I was looking for linden wood. In vain. I was slowly surrendering when a neighbor came to see me one day and told me he had enough lipines in the yard and was supposed to be six years old. He had it covered, because the thieves say they'll take everything out in the world ... ” And so John Rajek managed to complete the cross way to the sanctification of the church. This successful creation of human hands and skill can be seen by every visitor to the church in Lodn. Jan Rajtek currently works at the Elementary Art School in Kysucke New Town. The children they devote to their pedagogical work send their pictures to the Norwegian human society PÁ-EGNE-BEN-ON-OWN-FEET (On their own feet), which distributes them throughout the world through calendars.
