Kysuce , a region in the northwest
Slovak Republic over 934 km 2 . Kysuce neighbors with
Czechs in the west and Poland in the north. In the east they border with the Orava region, in the south with the regional capital
Zilina and in the south-west with the districts of Povazska Bystrica and Bytca .
There are 4 towns and 34 municipalities in the region. The largest city is
Čadca with 25,000 inhabitants, followed by
Kysucké Nové Mesto with 16,000 inhabitants, Turzovka with 7,700 inhabitants and Krásno nad Kysucou with 6,900 inhabitants. The smallest village in Kysuce is the village Rudinka with 399 inhabitants.
A large part (almost 59 per cent of the territory) of Kysuce is formed by forest consisting mainly of coniferous forests. The rest consists of deciduous and mixed forest, especially beech and fir-beech.
The main river is the Kysuca flowing through the center of the territory.
